Understand the dollar in USDC
USDC is a US dollar stablecoin issued by Circle. Its intended reference value is one US dollar, while Flow accepts NZD for your purchase. The NZD value of a USDC balance can therefore move as exchange rates change.
A stablecoin is still a cryptoasset with issuer, market and wallet risks. Your quote shows the USDC amount for the NZD you enter; do not assume that a dollar-denominated token is equivalent to money in a New Zealand bank account.
Network and token version both matter
Flow lists USDC routes for Ethereum (ERC-20), Solana and BNB Smart Chain (BEP-20). Check which route is available on your order and supported by the receiving wallet or service.
Circle-issued USDC and bridged representations are not automatically interchangeable. Some applications distinguish USDC from versions labelled USDC.e or other bridged tokens. Confirm the exact token accepted on the selected network before paying; do not rely only on a logo or ticker.
Receive USDC into the account you will use
If you plan to use USDC in an application, first check that application’s supported network and token instructions. Choose a wallet account compatible with both the intended use and Flow’s available route.
A wallet can show multiple chains under one account. After delivery, open the correct network and token view. If you cannot see the balance, check the transaction details before making another purchase. Ask support when the receiving token version is uncertain.

- Open the USDC receive screen in a Solana-compatible wallet. Confirm that it accepts USDC on Solana and copy the receiving details for your account.
- Choose USDC and the Solana network in Flow when available. Enter your NZD amount and confirm the current USDC quote, receiving address and network.
- Follow the order payment instructions. Once delivered, open the Solana account and its USDC token balance. Check your wallet’s SOL requirements separately if you plan to send USDC onwards.
Questions about buying USDC
Are USDC and USDT the same asset?
No. They are separate stablecoins associated with different issuers. Both aim to track the US dollar, but a wallet or service that accepts one does not necessarily accept the other.
Can I assume every token labelled USDC is the same?
No. Native and bridged versions can have different acceptance rules. Confirm the network and token version with the receiving service. If it requires a specific contract, verify compatibility before creating the order.
